Lord of Rowen

  • Raises crit chance / defense / resistance by 20~30% with no condition. Grants the Swift Walk effect, and on landing a critical hit grants re-action per the formula below.

Ultimate

Twin Blade Dance: Deal 130%~160% of attack as damage to an enemy, then deal 100% damage to enemies within the rear 3x3 area. An AoE that must first designate 1 enemy target (so it cannot be used purely as an AoE), and because it is treated as an AoE it is not counterattacked.

The second beam-blade exclusive weapon. Merely serviceable at base, it grows markedly stronger with each awakening, and from the 5th awakening becomes a hard counter to shield-reliant enemies.

Guide

Note: the following is NamuWiki community assessment (KR server), subjective community opinion. No S/A/B tier rating is stated in the document.

  • Overall: A tank-dealer that stacks damage reduction, self-heal, and crit-rate/crit-damage reduction, pours out damage with 2 attacks per turn, can support allies, and has excellent mobility. Said to have all the virtues asked of a tank-dealer.
  • Once the exclusive weapon reaches 55th awaken, he becomes a shield-holder sniper; combined with him being favorable in matchups anyway, he is especially strong against Cyrano (Sirano), who often relies on shields for survival and is medium armor (weak to beam swords), to the point people say he was designed as a Cyrano counter-pick.
  • The "Al-Al-Za" combo (Alfred + Alteir + Zad), combining Zad's re-action and Alteir's Mado-no-Won buff copy, became an essential meta of high-tier PvP. Rated as able to mutually destroy even against opposing Alteir's Black Mirror (a damage-reflect AoE buff skill that blanketed the PvP meta after May 2026).
  • Recommended for users who want a solid, dependable character. The main drawbacks: to properly realize his potential he needs the passive strengthened via 2nd Manifestation, and to aim for the Cyrano snipe the exclusive weapon must reach 5th awakening, so it is costly.

Class recommendations:

  • Verdict Knight: most recommended endgame class. High ATK boost, hard to be crit and weak damage even when crit, heals on both attacking and being attacked, gains damage-increase per enemy buff and damage-reduction per enemy buff; called an all-around class usable even in raids via 'Execution'. Called extremely hard to kill in PvP, at a level surpassing most tanks.
  • Arc Reaper: optimized for crit attacks and raids; via 'Phase Insight' damage rises up to 50% by enemy debuff count, so firepower is higher, but relatively less versatile in survival. Described as like Heidelun's and Omega's passives merged.
  • Command Knight: shared class, useful as a buffer via shout skills, but lowest priority since Frederick is more of a dealer; the exclusive skill Battlefield Shout is still worth picking up later.

Recommended gear:

  • Armor: For PvP orientation, set physical penetration to 100% and secure HP via Windstorm 2 + Lone Rider 2 or Netherworld 4-set. If going crit-focused for the passive, Crow set is considerable. Assassin 4-set is also considerable if crit is sufficiently secured.
  • Accessory: whetstone is used because Thousand Rift Myriad Slash counts as an added hit; serrated arrowhead also considerable since he is a crit-stat character. The Solitary Shadow Plate is not so essential because 2nd Awakening adds the Solitary Shadow Plate effect onto the passive. Given his tank-surpassing durability, healing censer or cursed eye to further boost tanking is a good choice.

Awakening/Manifestation progression: No dedicated staged Awakening section is present in this document. The only awakening info stated: when strengthened via Awakening, the base passive gains extra effects: - Lord's Dignity: grants a recovery-on-crit-damage-taken effect within 3 tiles around; when an allied playable character dies, Frederick gains a buff that simultaneously applies ATK / HP / phys-def / magic-def / HP recovery / action-control-debuff-removal. - Full Preparation: when a critical hit does NOT occur, gains crit rate / crit damage / reduced critical damage taken, plus debuff removal. - The evaluation notes reaching 2nd Awakening is needed to fully strengthen the passive. (No numeric per-stage table present.)

Character review of Alfred Frederick by 하막군의게임튜브 · 2026-08-04

Alfred Frederick hits extremely hard — the reviewer describes damage numbers around 50-60,000 — and is dominant on attack teams, especially into Cyrano Bernstein compositions. But he has the harshest investment requirement in the series: full manifestation and a fully awakened weapon, or don't bother. Not "weaker below that" — he says it stops being meaningful. (25:14)

His counter is also clear-cut. His attack scales off the shield on his target, so an enemy who simply has an enormous health pool and no shield blunts him entirely. (26:17)

He is also poor on defence teams — there's no single showy play for the AI to find — but very strong when you drive him. (26:49)

One of the shortest passives in the game

Crit Rate, DEF and RES all +30%, and a critical hit grants an extra action on a 2-turn cooldown. Up to 5 copies that's a 90% chance; from 6 it's guaranteed. The cooldown stays at 2 even at full awakening. He also gets Swift Step: two consecutive moves — no attack, no skill, just double movement. (1:33)

Full manifestation is where it changes shape. Lord's Dignity puts an aura on allies within 3 tiles carrying ATK, Crit-Rate-taken reduction and ultimate-damage reduction — and, at full manifestation, makes those allies ignore extra-action denial. He is honest that this comes up less than people expect; you need an ally that has been denied an extra action to be standing inside his aura at the right moment. (5:41)

Also at full manifestation, Legacy of the People stacks up to 3 as allied players die, giving +45% ATK, Max HP and penetration resistance plus TP-removal and Stun immunity. His conclusion: kill Alfred Frederick first, or you will fight a monster once his team is gone. (6:43)

One note on the aura's healing rider — it doesn't stack with Ancient Hero's Ring, and the two trigger on opposite conditions: the ring heals on a critical hit taken, the aura heals on a non-critical hit. Pick one. (3:35)

Class: Verdict Knight to hold, Arc Reaper to attack

Verdict Knight gives +30% ATK, Crit-Rate-taken reduction and damage reduction, heals 80% of ATK after attacking below full health, and can't have its class passive sealed. Phase Interpretation adds up to +20% damage dealt and -20% taken based on the target's buff count — and since most units carry buffs, treat both as flat. Between all of it he sits near 50% damage reduction.

It also carries Execution: when he has no action left and an enemy within 3 tiles drops below 30% HP, he takes an extra turn. Same idea as Omega's Assassin Instinct, slightly worse numbers. (7:46)

Arc Reaper is the attacking class. Quantum Drive stacks +8% ATK and Crit damage per enemy hit up to 10 — +80%. Phase Insight adds damage per debuff on the target up to 50%, which is a raid number rather than a PvP one. His split: Verdict Knight on defence, Arc Reaper on attack. (10:20)

Heaven-Splitting Strike is the whole gameplan

The reviewer calls it his beginning and his end. It deals a small 30% hit and then 120% to enemies adjacent to the target, and that follow-up is additive with follow-up damage bonuses rather than multiplicative — which is exactly why Portable Whetstone is his accessory, and why follow-up damage as a weapon specialisation exists at all.

Critical hits are guaranteed on it. Its cooldown is 2 and it reduces its own cooldown by 2, so there is effectively no cooldown. It costs 2 TP and grants Focus, refunding 1 — and the weapon returns another. Net: an unlimited, free, guaranteed-crit area attack. (13:27)

Surge Blade is a 1 TP, 3-turn buff granting Crit Rate, Crit-Rate-taken reduction and Range +1; always cast it. Battlefield Shout clears Fear and Weaken on allies within 3 tiles, strips two enemy buffs and grants ATK, M-ATK and Max HP — a considerably better version of the Command Knight shout, for 1 TP on a 2-turn cooldown. (11:54, 12:25)

The ultimate does 150% to the target and 110% behind it, and at manifestation adds Incapacitate to everything it hits. (16:29)

Gear

One Against a Thousand with Envoy of the Storm for the Physical Penetration, and Portable Whetstone as the accessory — ATK, Max HP, and crucially the follow-up damage that feeds Heaven-Splitting Strike.

The penetration maths he lays out: 30% from armour, 20% from the weapon, 25% from the artifact and 25.5% from Wind runes, reaching 100%. (17:31)

The weapon is the character

He says it plainly: the weapon is the real unit, and it needs ★6 — not ★5.

It gives Physical Penetration and Crit Rate on attack and counter, applies Photon Laceration on a critical hit and grants TP. That TP is a separate grant from Heaven-Splitting Strike's Focus, so the two stack — 2 TP back per cast, which is what makes the loop infinite. (18:31)

The unusual clause: before combat, if his shield value exceeds 70% of his ATK, the excess is added to his ATK. With modern shields running into the tens of thousands, that is an enormous number — and it means you don't want high base ATK, because a lower ATK makes the threshold easier to clear. That inverts the usual build advice. (19:33)

Runes

Not the usual Chaos setup. Wind runes in slots 1 and 2 — 15% plus 7.5% plus the set bonus is 25.5% Physical Penetration, which is the only stat he actually lacks. Then Ultimate, Ultimate, Conspiracy.

Sun runes are wasted: between the aura (25%), Verdict Knight (30%), Surge Blade (20%) and the weapon (20%) he already has up to 95% Crit-Rate-taken reduction, so Crit-damage-taken runes have nothing left to do. (20:35)

Artifacts

Wind of Recovery+3 more → is the pick — +25% ATK and +25% Physical Penetration, DEF and RES (both already good on him), and damage reduction plus healing when Action-Controlled.

His own artifact gives ATK and Max HP with a buff that converts from damage reduction into ATK/DEF/RES over the first few turns, totalling +45% ATK. He still prefers Wind of Recovery for the penetration. Flash Combo Secret Manual+5 more → is redundant: its Focus doesn't stack with Heaven-Splitting Strike's, and its Crit Rate is wasted on a character already overflowing with it. (22:39)
