Guide

No explicit S/A/B tier rating present.

Core skills and ultimate: At full Manifestation, Rising Divinity gives AoE skills TP -2 and cuts cooldown by 1 turn, so you can spam AoE almost freely. Main skills: you pick 2 of the 3TP-reduced Pungpayeolseom, the 110%-damage Pungyeolseom, the stun-capable Wonseompa, and Cry of Vigor, and the remaining slot is always Sprint. Since re-action triggers at 3 accumulated actions, which adds 1 stack is essential. Once Rising Divinity activates, Cry of Vigor quickly fills the re-action count, and since Kashtar can self-heal, it is a worthwhile choice. Pungpayeolseom and Pungyeolseom are very strong DPS options; Pungpayeolseom in particular fills movement distance and deals 160% damage so it is always included, but Kashtar is squishy so use with care. Wonseompa is good for creating variables in PVP.

Recommended gear: Using Striker basically forces a full Ilgi set for physical penetration. Striker + Ilgi set reaches 60% physical penetration, and the Underworld Sword fully awakened adds 20% more. Add a Wind rune and 100% is not hard to reach; this is the most recommended direction. If not getting phys-pen from the weapon, you must get it from accessories. The Lord's exclusive accessory Black Flag or the Grey Knights' Token can cover the remaining phys-pen, but the difficulty and cost are so high that people usually use Wolf Fang. However, Wolf Fang presumes battle attacks, so it does not suit Kashtar, who has no AoE with battle attached. For weapon, if not using the Underworld Sword, the exclusive Black Steel Sword or Demon-Slaying Blade are options.

Evaluation: A character with strong AoE built on high attack values and good sustain from the unique passive. However, perhaps because he is an early character (and given he is a founding figure of Imperial swordsmanship), all his skills are shared/common skills and the overall impression is many AoE moves; in this game plain common AoE skills are considered mediocre, so Kashtar, who relies on those, is not well regarded. His use is limited to about the Dark-attribute Kerberos raid. After Inner Break arrived, a trait appeared: the Rising Divinity stacks needed for re-action dropped to 3, the TP-drain skill condition shifted from ultimate to AoE, and cooldowns were reduced. Re-action became very easy and AoE became very comfortable to use. But there is no HP increase and re-action is only possible from turn 2 onward, so performance leans more toward PVE than PVP. In 2025-12, when Irus received Inner Break, the Striker class was buffed and Kashtar was buffed alongside. Striker gained phys-pen/Crit Rate +30% on top of existing performance, making 100% phys-pen easier, and Pungpayeolseom changed from 4TP to 3TP, easing operation. Assuming Vigor, on turn 1 you can do Sprint, attack, attack to immediately trigger the Divinity passive, and if you also get Gishne's Fatal Legacy shield, you can use Jinmu Earth Rupture for 1 TP. With high attack, relatively easy phys-pen and Crit Rate, spammable AoE, very easy re-action, self-heal, and buffed-up strong active skills, his performance has risen to a fairly decent level for an early character with no unique class. His biggest weaknesses are being squishy and his artifacts: squishiness can be covered with shields, but the artifacts are barely usable. For example, the Mark of Slaughter is not undispellable, so it evaporates easily relative to how hard the stacks are to build; Fatal Will is only marginally better than nothing; and Wind Step is likewise better off absent, given Kashtar's easy-re-action nature. Had there been a Warrior's Essence granting melee attack +30% and phys-pen +15%, he could have shown quite decent performance despite being an old character.
