Paltamilla

Leader of the Geysir Empire's Demon Corps and a man of violent character from the Ritoa tribe, a small people of northern Geysir with the inherited ability to manipulate monsters using a distinctive scent — the tradition the Demon Corps grew out of. The Black Prince himself once fielded the Corps early in the Antarian War, but learned its flaw firsthand: Demon Soldiers only obey commands while a Ritoa handler stays close by, and outside that range they revert to instinct and attack ally and enemy alike, so he stopped summoning them after that.

Beradin has no such reservations — after becoming regent, he brings the Ritoa tribe, including Paltamilla, back into the army and re-establishes the Demon Corps under his command. The new Corps seems more disciplined at first, but drifts back to its old unpredictability over time.
