His official character card lists his faction as Astania, reflecting his origin as a Bishop Knight, though he leads and is grouped here as Dagal's mercenary captain.
Playable Unit
Captain of the Dagal Mercenaries. Commands them with skillful spearmanship and bold strategy, with good situational judgment and a level-headed outlook that occasionally surprises those around him with daring maneuvers. Once the mercenaries are formally inducted into Silver Arrow as an official order of knights, Iyolin names them the Freedom Knights — a nod to how they fight without the restraint expected of the Paladins.
He used to be Knight Captain of Astania's Divine Knights (the post Cecil Luminous now holds), but was exiled over his role in the Duke Deon incident. He was also close to Erich Schultz, Grand Knight of the Templars, but they are now estranged.
Later pilots the Astanian first-class Machina Garius — normally reserved for Templars only — during the Heaven's Castle crisis: a notable breach of sacred protocol showing how completely the old faction lines have dissolved.
Running Arc
The Duke Deon Incident
In 1195 E.C., years before the story begins, Duke Deon's rebellion to install a new Bishop is exposed; he flees, seizes a small fort, and takes villagers hostage to force the Templars to fall back. Unwilling to lose more time, Landam moves to rescue the hostages with his Divine Knights — but Deon sets the fort ablaze as a distraction and escapes with his followers. Landam runs into the flames anyway; he loses the hostages regardless, and it costs him one of his eyes. Meanwhile Erich's Radiant Knights are defeated trying to run Deon down, and Grand Knight Alonzo is killed outright. Landam and Erich eventually bring Deon's rebellion down together, but Astania's investigation into the failed hostage rescue and Alonzo's death holds Landam responsible, and he's exiled — the injury a lasting mark of a rescue he never actually managed to complete.
