Chapter 16

Storm Envoy II

Framed and on the run, G.S closes the loop on the traitor from Chapter 12 — and the wizard who's been chasing his statue ever since.

Burning Village

After escaping the pursuit that followed Duke Moselle's assassination, G.S makes his way to Jadis Village — and finds another fight already under way: Imperial forces have ravaged the Valtans' home, and G.S's party takes up arms to save them.

A Valtan the party rescues reveals that the Imperial Army's real objective lies in the Underground Palace. Guided by a young Valtan, G.S and his party head to the ruins, confirm the Empire has already occupied them, and press on to investigate — suspecting, correctly, that the target is a God of Destruction statue.

Deadly Invitation

In a parallel thread, Robin — having followed Gishne's lead to the Underground Palace — grumbles in protest, but with no other options, goes along with him. Sensing intruders, Diablo of the Four Imperial Guardians hurries to move the statue to safety.

On the way in, G.S's party and Robin's party cross paths and size each other up warily — until they discover a young Valtan boy named Nin in danger. It's the same Nin already on record for helping Weiss Hamen hide back in Chapter 12; the two parties set their differences aside to save him, then agree to join forces against their common enemy.

Sanguine Feud

Sangir, already waiting in the Underground Palace, awakens his full power to face G.S's party in a battle with no retreat. He's defeated, and dies warning of the Dark God's vengeance — the payoff of a thread running continuously from Weiss Hamen's betrayal in Chapter 12: Sangir already extracted the statue's location from Weiss before killing him there, and it's that same information he's been acting on ever since. Weiss himself was already dead long before this confrontation.

Collector at the Dark Castle

Having found common cause, G.S and the two parties realize they can help each other and decide to continue their unexpected journey together. With the statue secured, Beradin summons Karim to the Dark Castle to give orders for the next phase of his plan.
