Real Time Match (PvP)
Real Time Match is a 1-on-1 real-time battle mode. You arrange a match with a friend or a fellow Guild member and compete directly, head to head.
Where Guild War is decided by pre-arranged defense decks, Real Time Match makes you read your opponent's moves as they happen and react on the spot. Even with the same team composition, every battle plays out completely differently, which the developers describe as the closest the game gets to the true fun of an SRPG.

How Real Time Match Works
- It went live on global with the August 18, 2026 update, listed in the patch notes as Real-Time PvP.
- It launches as a friendly/arranged match mode (challenge a friend or Guild member), not an open ranked ladder.
- The developers chose the friendly-match form on purpose, because a full real-time PvP mode was too demanding to run at launch.
- It is aimed at Guardians who enjoy strategic, competitive play and want to test their skill directly against another person rather than a set defense.
What to Expect in a Match

Korea calls the mode Real-Time Arena, where it has been live since October 2024, so its history is a good preview of how global's version is likely to unfold. A match plays out on a compact bounded arena with a turn limit (4 of 15 in the screenshot above), using the same tactical combat as the rest of the game but driven live by two players. On the Korean server, top-ranked players use the mode as a lab for testing new team compositions and strategies against live opponents.
How It Runs at First
On Korea the developers describe deliberately keeping the first version light, so as many Guardians as possible can take part without pressure:
- Runs as a short event, roughly 1 to 2 weeks at a time, added on top of the regular weekly event rotation.
- Scored on wins, losses and character deaths, so you can earn all of the rewards through participation rather than needing to place highly.
- A rank does exist, but rank rewards are Honor (prestige) rewards, keeping the pressure low.
- Aimed at Guardians who specifically want the extra challenge, without forcing everyone else to take part.
How It Will Grow
The Korean team frames the friendly match as the first step of a longer plan: give players time to get comfortable, then steadily expand it with quality-of-life improvements, new maps, and eventually full competitive formats.
- Adoption events: light events (such as a Beat the Developer event) that ease players into real-time PvP a little at a time.
- Real-Time PvP League: once players have adjusted, an Honor-based ranked league that competes on placement.
- Real-Time Tournament System: the longer-term goal announced in Korean Developer's Note #61, turning real-time PvP from a standalone feature into a proper tournament format.
Note: this staged plan comes from the Korean dev notes, which run well ahead of global. Timing and exact rules for the League and Tournament stages are not finalized and global may differ.
